Jill Celeste Gallery - Scenes from the Countryside

“Scenes from the Countryside”
Lithographs by Andrew Kosten

“Throughout its all too often tragic history, humanity has turned to the comical, the bizarre, and the extraordinary in order to maintain a sense of lightheartedness. This tendency is often reflected in my work on a personal, sociological, and autobiographical level. Themes that have remained somewhat consistent in my work include the influence of the corrupt over the unsuspecting, the hilarity and whimsical nature of the human psyche, and the function of the individual in relation to their culture or environment.” –Andrew Kosten

Andrew Kosten received a Bachelors degree in painting from Washington University and a Masters degree in printmaking from the University of South Dakota. He is currently an instructor of drawing and design at the College of the Sequoias in California.
Jill Celeste Gallery is located in the Palate Wine Bar in Oakhurst.

The Art Institute of Atlanta Opens Satellite Campus in Decatur

ATLANTA (GA) - The Art Institute of Atlanta announces the opening of its first satellite location. The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur opens its doors for classes on January 8 at One West Court Square in Decatur, Georgia. Applications are now being accepted.

“We’re very proud to be opening this location and to be a part of a community like Decatur, which so obviously cares about and promotes the arts,” said President Janet S. Day. “We chose Decatur for a number of reasons, including the number of inquiries we receive from this part of Metro Atlanta who find the Sandy Springs location too far away for them. I think it also gives us the chance to reach out to potential students in Newton and Rockdale Counties, as well as part of Gwinnett. And with the wonderful support of the arts on the part of the Decatur community and the warm welcome we have received in response to our preliminary fact-finding efforts, we knew we would be very much at home!”

Initially, The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur will offer bachelor’s degree programs in advertising, fashion & retail management, graphic design, interior design, media arts & animation, and Web design & interactive media. Associate degree programs will be offered in graphic design, and Web design & interactive media. Diplomas will be awarded in advertising design, digital design, residential interiors, and Web design.
