This Saturday at Academy Theatre

Saturday, you can spend the evening at the Academy Theatre – without spending a lot of cash – and see two great shows!

Beginning the evening at 8:00, Jackie Prucha, Adriana Warner and Vincent Murphy star in the Kingfisher Café Reading Series' My River, My Valley, a poignant drama by Ron Osborne. The play tells the story, set in 1941, of two elderly sisters battling to keep their land and their memories intact as the TVA project threatens to destroy their lifelong family home. The series is sponsored by Pine Lake's newest eclectic eatery, The Kingfisher Café (www.thekingfishercafe.com), 4600 Rockbridge Road in Pine Lake.

Then, at 10:30, the Late Night Saturday series presents 90 lively minutes of music and storytelling, with return performances from three LNS favorites: folk rockers with an agenda, Sean Kagalis and Brennan Bray; storyteller Audrey Galex's exploration of the oys and joys of growing up Jewish in a small town in the Midwest, a story for anyone who's ever felt "dissed" for being "different;" and 15-year-old cabaret sensation Chandler Converse, joined by fellow tenth-grader Patrick Dyer and accompanied by guitarist Andy Dyer.

Admission to either program is $10, or $15 for both. The Academy is at 119 Center Street, Avondale Estates. And -- refreshments and free parking are available. For information, call 404 583-1270 or visit:
