7:15pm:Georgia Center for the Book presents Earl & Merle Black at the Decatur Library. Earl (Rice University) and Merle (Emory University) are two of the most knowledgeable experts on Southern politics (Politics and Society in the South, The Rise of Southern Republicans). They discuss growing political divisiveness in their revealing new book, Divided American: The Ferocious Power Struggle in American Politics. They argue that neither party can claim majority status, and that the race for the White House now rests on a handful of states in the Midwest, 404.370.8450
The Decatur Arts Alliance is a nonprofit partnership of artists, business owners, residents and government dedicated to supporting and enhancing the arts in the city of Decatur. The DAA sponsors the annual Decatur Arts Festival as well as special art events for members only. It also provides a collaborative environment to coordinate the interests of artists, gallery owners, theater groups, dance groups and performance venues within Decatur and to help build the image of the city as a strong arts community.
