Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra

  • 7:15 pm: Georgia Center for the Book hosts William W. Freehling. The distinguished historian presents his much-anticipated second book examining one of the fundamental questions in American history: why did the southern states leave the Union and precipitate the Civil War? His new book, The Road to Disunion: Volume 2, Secessionists Triumphant 1854-1861 follows his Bancroft prize-winning study of the Old South, The Road to Disunion: Volume 1, Secessionist at Bay 1776-1854, 404.370.8450
  • 8 pm: Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra performs at the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. As featured on Atlanta's local news, the 90-member orchestra is comprised of exceptionally talented young musicians from more than 40 high schools in the metro Atlanta area and is conducted by Emory's Richard Prior, 404.727.5050.
