Waiting for Happiness

  • 6pm: Documentaries and Films from Africa: Waiting for Happiness at Emory's White Hall 208. In this film directed by Abderrahmane Sissako, seventeen year old Abdallah visits his mother in the small coastal town of Nouadhibou before he emigrates to Europe. He is unable to speak the local language and therefore feels like an outcast, 404.727.6123
  • 7pm: A Sample of Writing by William Saroyan at Emory's Schwartz Center will be performed. The staged reading features selections from William Saroyan's other fiction and essays related to the themes in The Time of Your Life. The reading will be performed by Blake Covington, Michael Evenden, Penny Flick, Lora Hogan, Donald McManus and Pat Miller, 404.727.5050
  • 7pm: The Carlos Museum hosts a lecture with Dr. Jodi Magness. The Society for Biblical Literature and the Carlos Museum welcome Dr. Magness, Professor of Religious Studies at the Universitiy of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, presenting "Ossuaries and the Burials of Jesus and James," 404.727.4282
